We are against political Islam influenced by Arewa – Ebiri Gbonka

The supreme council for Islamic affairs is a body greatly influenced and financed by arewa North. The Bashorun at Oyo is secretly affiliated with this group. In the recent attempt to bring sharia to Oyo. he was nominated as the royal father of the day. His mission was to work with Sokoto to impose a king that will turn his back on Yoruba traditional practices and lean more towards political Islam.

Both of them would have worked to compromise Oyo in the classic Mesu Jamba style like the days of old. It would have ended with the mass migration of hot-head radicals into Oyo like it was in the days of Afonja when the Jamas moved to Ilorin and embraced Alfa Alimi as their spiritual leader. None is more qualified than Lukman Gbadegesin for the job. His grandfather started the modern Oyo/Sokoto religious alliance shortly before Nigeria independence with support from the British. The Bashorun represents Futa Jalon political Islam.

The real plan is to have in Oyo, a Bashorun and a King that will work with Sotoko to clear the path for modern religious invasions that many ancestors of Oyo fight hard to reject. This is what Makinde saw and stood his ground against and this makes him a hero in the spirit of his ancestors like Iba Oluyole We are not against Islam in Yorubaland. We are against political Islam influenced by Arewa. That is a disaster waiting to happen and Yoruba conservatives will fight against it without apology. Brotherhood based on religion is false. Yorubaland belongs to the Yoruba people. None can have any special privileges over others because of religion. The laws of the land must be acceptable to all irrespective of religion. Religion and politics are rejected in Yorubaland.

Life has a strange way of educating those who refuse to listen: it allows them to cross the line and then charges them for the lesson. Not every boundary is marked with a warning sign. Some are protected by silence, patience, restraint, and people who choose peace over conflict. But wisdom lies in knowing that silence is not permission and patience is not weakness. ...
