What is a fair price for poultry manure this season?

One thing I’ve noticed this year is that the price of
Poultry manure is becoming a serious
Discussion between poultry farmers and crop
Farmers/agronomists.
On one side, poultry farmers are saying:
“Dust is expensive.
Labour is expensive.
Packing is stressful.
Transportation is costly.
and managing poultry waste is not easy.”
And honestly, they are right.
For those using deep litter systems.
The cost of wood shavings/dust has increased significantly.
Even those using battery cage systems still spend money on labor,
packing.
loading.
and keeping the environment clean.
Poultry waste management is working on its own.
But on the other side,
Crop farmers are also saying:
“Maize price did not increase this season.
Some people have not even sold their corn yet,
And farming costs were already high.
Buying manure at very high prices is becoming difficult.”
And they are also right.
The truth is, both poultry farmers and crop farmers need each other.
Poultry manure helps improve soil fertility and crop yield,
especially for maize farming.
At the same time,
crop farmers are among the biggest customers that poultry farmers depend on.
Maybe this is the time for understanding and fair pricing from both sides.
If prices become too high,
many crop farmers may reduce usage or stop
buying completely.
If prices become too low,
Poultry farmers may not even recover the cost of
handling and packaging the manure.
This conversation is important because many
people are already holding manure waiting for prices to increase,
While many farmers genuinely cannot afford the current market price.
