The President Goodluck Jonathan led Federal Government warned all employers to avoid stigmatizing Nigerians who have been recently discharged from Ebola isolation and quarantine centres. The FG reiterated its commitment to total enforcement of the country’s principle and guidelines of “No Stigmatisation, No Discrimination and No Termination of Employment of Workers” for survivors of the Ebola Virus Disease(EVD), after the World Health Organisation declared Nigeria free from EVD.

Secretary of Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity Dr. Clement Illoh stated that the measure was in compliance with the mandate of the ministry on protection of the nation’s labour-force. He commended the role of the Federal Ministry of Health in the containment of EVD in Nigeria, and stressed the necessity for continuous preventive action because of globalisation and high mobility of world population.

“Undoubtedly, Government in accordance with the Transformation Agenda of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, shows greater commitment to occupational safety and health, with the recruitment of more doctors, nurses, Medical laboratory scientists, and others,” he said.
