Impeached Brazilian President Rousseff Departs Esidential Residence

Former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has left the Alvorada Palace, the state residence of the pinnacle of state in the capital of the country, following her impeachment, local media reported.

LAGOS (Ooduarere) — Based on the broadcaster Globo, she headed for her apartment in Porto Alegre in southern Brazil after leaving the residence on Tuesday. The  day before, her luggage began to be obtained from the Alvorada Palace. Close to the residence, she was welcomed by  hundreds of her supporters who also followed her to the plane.

In May, the Brazilian Senate voted to open impeachment proceedings against Rousseff after she was accused of concealing the budget deficit prior to the 2014 re-election. Rousseff was suspended from office for 180 days, pending the trial, while she denied any wrongdoing. In late August, Brazilian senators voted to get rid of Rousseff from the presidential post. While many remain resentful of her party, the Worker’s Party, in the wake of the Petrobras scandal, allegations against Rousseff herself have already been decried as an item of political opportunism.
